Our Story
– Val Porter, owner
Being born and cultured in rural farm country, I carry serenity, belonging and wonder in my DNA. After having been immersed in several cultures, studied human psychology and focusing my work on the art of making people comfortable, I made it my business to become an expert in all things joyful and healthy feasting in Prince Edward County. I have loved and planted roots here, experiment with foods, guests accommodations in this place for over a decade. And as our farm to table broadens, I can recommend wine with the best of them.
I love what I do for many reasons such as community building, embracing global cultural footprint while sharing our talents across the region. At our Bed and Breakfast, we have repeat guests from Thailand, Switzerland, England, Germany, Shanghai, the Unites States, Norway, Spain, France, our home across Canada, and so much more. Runaway Bay Guest House is often a haven for experts, professionals and others seeking a place to recapture that magnificence that is emboldened in them, satisfy a Canadian travel curiosity, ….. and fall in love again!
One of the things I love is seeing the joys in people’s eyes from an excellent stay. It’s that joy that truly motivates me to do what I do.
- We are here to serve you beautifully!
